Artist's Biography Helen Eng is a self-taught landscape photographer who enjoys the outdoors and capturing the colours and moods of nature on film. Photography is largely a solo activity for her, however, for many of her photographs taken on the water, her husband is an indispensable part of the team as he steers and positions the canoe in just the “right†spot for her to take the photograph. Her work features broad landscapes, but also close-ups which frequently reflect the abstract patterns to be found in nature. She strives to capture what nature has presented. She considers her photography to be an on-going developmental process for herself as an artist.
After teaching high school English for 16 years, Helen took a break from the classroom in 2005 to pursue her photography. For three years, she has sold her work on Granville Island, one of Vancouver’s main tourist attractions. Her website currently displays a number of local British Columbia landscapes. Helen lives in Burnaby, British Columbia with her husband. |
